Dive Deeper Into God’s Word
Houston’s First offers countless ways for members to get connected and grow in their faith. From Sunday morning worship services to Life Bible Studies and Equip Classes, this church provides meaningful opportunities for spiritual development. Wednesdays at Houston’s First, in particular, create space for connection and discipleship through a variety of classes designed to encourage growth and community.
For those seeking deeper spiritual growth, Equip Classes offer a wide range of topics to meet believers at every stage of faith. These classes are offered in six- and twelve-week sessions and meet throughout the week, making it easy to engage in intentional learning and discipleship.
Adult Education Minister Tim Young explains:
“Equip exists to help believers mature in their walk with Christ and be prepared for ministry. Its purpose is to intentionally train and develop disciples, not just attenders, so they are rooted in God’s Word, growing spiritually, and ready to serve and make disciples. Equip bridges the gap between Sunday worship and everyday faithfulness.”
Life Bible Study classes are wonderful; they explore specific books of the Bible and are open to all. Equip Classes, however, are designed to build on one another, offering intentional, topical studies. While these classes may include homework, they provide accountability, encourage scripture memorization, and help participants develop consistent habits for studying God’s Word.
We invite you to explore our website to discover a variety of classes tailored to your interests: covering topics like fitness, parenting, marriage, finances, and more. These opportunities are open to everyone, whether you are a new believer, a longtime church member, or stepping into ministry for the first time.
Tim Young encourages anyone considering Equip:
“You don’t have to be ready—you just have to be willing. Equip isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about growing alongside others in a supportive, grace-filled environment. You’ll gain practical tools, deeper understanding, and meaningful relationships—and you’ll walk away more confident in how God can use you right where you are.”
Hosea 6:6 (CSB)
For I desire faithful love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.
